I decided to start this silly blog challenge that I happened to find on Pinterest. I will start by listing out 10 little known facts about me. I have always considered myself a pretty boring person but something about my life might be interesting to somebody! So, here’s the list in no particular order.
1. I grew up in a Rural town
I was born in South Alabama and moved around the southeast United States some as a child but eventually settled in rural north Florida. I went to a small school and graduated in a class of 23 students. Ag and FFA were some of my favorite things in school.
2. I LOVE Gardening
I love the idea of planting a seed and watching it grow. Since I was a teenager, I have planted and grown a large number of my own vegetables and fruits. I prefer Organic gardening tactics and refuse to spray my plants with chemicals. My goal is to build a large greenhouse to be able to grow vegetables even in the fairly mild Florida Winter.
3. I have a Pit Bull named Topper
Topper is my first pet. BTW, I am not including family pets while growing up. He is a red nose American Pit Bull Terrier and extremely well behaved and disciplined. I named him based on the movie Hot Shots‘ Main Character, Topper Harley.
4. I was married on Leap Year 2016
Due to my and my wife’s silly demeanor, we decided on a funky date for our wedding. So, Feb 29th it is! People often give us strange looks about our choice for a wedding date, but it’s not like we really care anyway.
5. I work for a Non-Profit Organization 9-5
I work for a Statewide nonprofit helping people with disabilities. It can be fulfilling work at times, frustrating at others. But overall I feel I am helping people.
6. My favorite Instrument to play is Bass
I play the bass guitar on occasion to unwind. My goal is to move into a home with enough room that I can purchase an upright Bass. My second favorite instrument to play is the steering wheel bongo. My wife laughs at me sometimes about how much I love beating on my steering wheel while listening to music. I can produce so many different sounds just on my steering wheel.
7. I drive a Chevy Silve-RAY-do
8. I Spent Almost 4 years in a Mental Hospital
I spent a few years working at Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee. Yes, working. Not as a patient. If you haven’t seen the movie Chattahoochee, it’s a must-see and based on a true story. The hospital has come a long way since then, but it is interesting to see what was once considered standard practice in these types of places.
9. I Have a Love-Hate Relationship with Technology
I like technology, I use it to earn a living and I’m always interested in finding new ways to simplify and automate life with technology (my specialty in the non-profit). However, if technology were to stop working tomorrow, I would be a happier person because of it. I am fully comfortable living off-grid with a simple lifestyle that would no longer rely on electronics.
10. I Genuinely like Helping People to Succeed.
This is precisely why I started this business. I was able to stop simply trading my time for money at another “job” that really just wanted a warm body to fill some sort of minimum requirement. I started learning how I could cut that cord and start making decisions for myself, create my own income stream and become more financially independent. I have a 9-5 job as Director of Operations at a non-profit because I WANT TO, not because I have to have a job. I want to help other people realize that they, too, can work from home, or anywhere else they choose. I stopped trading my time for money and started trading my knowledge and ideas. I began leveraging what I knew, my experiences, and more for an income, I could be proud of.
I would love to help you too! Send me a message, I will gladly answer the questions you have, and help form solutions to any problems you face in your business. If you want to start a new business or blog, but just don’t exactly know where to start, I can help with that too.
