If selling a specific product or a line of products is your thing, what social media platform would be the most beneficial to you?
If you said MySpace, you’re an idiot. Ok, that was a little harsh. The social media platform you should focus on is Pinterest. 93% of users on pinterest use the platform to plan and make purchases. Use Pinterest to showcase your products in easy to assimilate boards and images. You should pin the products in a way that showcases their usability in a non sales way. If you sell Sporting goods, create boards based on the various sporting niches. Like a Golf board that you pin relevant tips and info related to golf along with your products. The same with Skiing, basketball, and so on.
If you run a boutique, create boards based on color schemes, outfit styles, jewelry, seasonal outfits, etc. These will give your followers some structure to finding your products and potentially making a purchase!
You should always make sure your pins are in context. If your pin is of a new golf club, the link should allow the follower to easily view the pinned club and be able to purchase. If the item is hard to find, the follower will quickly back out and look elsewhere.
Most importantly, The image must be of high quality and easy to understand. The Description and alt text needs to be filled with relevant, related keywords to allow your pins to show up higher in search results.
Of course, this does not mean that you should ignore other social media channels and focus solely on Pinterest. You should, however, pay close attention to pinterest as a great source of traffic to your eCommerce website.
